The CAO L’Anniversaire Cameroon features Nicaraguan binder and filler, with a Cameroon wrapper that adds hints of caramel and coffee to the spicy Nicaraguan base tobacco. Five different Cuban Seed tobaccos are blended to produce the filler, making for a complex, pleasant flavor. This is, in our opinion, the mildest of the CAO L’Anniversaire cigars, but not mild without any flavor at all. The CAO L’Anniversaire Cameroon was given a ‘92’ rating by Cigar Aficionado, only the fifth non-Cuban cigar to earn such a high mark. The CAO L’Anniversaire Maduro, preferred by my partner, is a dark, oily maduro with serious overtones of coffee and spice. The binder tobacco is grown in Ecuador from Sumatran seed, and the filler is from the Dominican Republic and Nicaragua. The wrapper is a beautiful Connecticut Broadleaf that is oily to the touch. Smoke Magazine Online called it ‘The Best Maduro Cigar of 1999.’ |
